Izhak Nakar, Founder & Active Executive Chairman

Izhak Nakar founded the Company and served as its Chairman of the Board and CEO from its inception until May 2001.

In the beginning of 2009, Izhak Nakar purchased most of the shareholdings of Charterhouse Group International and became the Active and Executive Chairman of the Board and major stakeholder in the Company.

In 1998, Mr. Nakar founded NIR4YOU Capital, a privately-held investment company specializing in early stage investments in high–tech companies. NIR4YOU Capital lists 14 companies in its portfolio including: ForesCout, e-mobilis, TopGuard, Matearis, Video Codes, SundaySky, Expression Ltd, Secur DI, MomSense and others.  Three of the 14 companies were sold to large enterprises, including to SAP and Microsoft. In 2004 Mr. Nakar was elected as a board member of the Israel-Japan Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Nakar served in the Israel Air Force from 1970 to 1987; he reached the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.  In the Air Force he led various large-scale technical development projects, including leading a development team that worked in cooperation with the U.S. Air Force. 
 
He earned a B.Sc. in Computer Science from Bar Ilan University in 1982, and an MBA from Tel-Aviv University in 1984.

Mr. Nakar is a recipient of the “Israel Defense Award,” bestowed annually by the President of Israel, for the development of high-tech systems in the field of intelligence for the Israeli Defense Force. He also received the “Man of the Year Award” in Business and Management (‘95-’96) in recognition of his business accomplishments and contributions to the growth and development of Israeli high-tech companies.

Michael Schrader, Chief Executive Officer

In September 2014 Michael Schrader was promoted to the position of CEO. Mr. Schrader has served as the manager of TIS’s German operation since 2004. In this position, Mr. Schrader successfully established a solid operation with skilled sales and engineering teams able to respond to the demands of a highly competitive market, and develop superior standardized applications. Mr. Schrader has been with TIS since 1999, and has rapidly progressed within the company, serving as a software engineer, a technical team leader, an international strategic project manager and as the director of engineering for Europe, then as General Manager for EMEA, Senior VP of Global Solutions and most recently COO.

Prior to joining TIS, Mr. Schrader was a software engineer at Siemens and owned a Document Management consulting and development business. Mr. Schrader holds a B.Sc. of Business Engineering / Administration and is an Associate Engineer of Siemens Technical College.

Lyron Bentovim, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer


lyron web headshot new A member of the TIS Board of Directors since 2008, Lyron Bentovim was appointed TIS’ CFO and COO in 2014.  A seasoned CFO with a strong strategy, finance and operations background and many years of experience at public and private companies in the US, prior to his current position, Bentovim served as COO and CFO of nIT, New York, N.Y., an IT Services provider. 

Prior to that position, Bentovim served as Managing Director and COO/CFO at Cabrillo Advisors and as COO/CFO for Sunrise Telecom Inc., and before that as Managing Director of Skiritai Capital LLC, an equity hedge fund in New York and San Francisco. 

Mr. Bentovim holds an LLB (Bachelor of Law) from Hebrew University and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.   

Appointed in May 2015 to the position of CTO, Nelk brings vast experience as an innovative executive at various global enterprise software leaders. Nelk is responsible for the company’s global product strategy and future roadmap and manageds all product management, strategy and R&D teams.  

Before joining TIS, Nelk was responsible for innovation in Financial Process Automation at ReadSoft AB, where he introduced new functional process enhancements and mobile and cloud technologies.  Prior to that position, for six years Nelk served as CEO of the ReadSoft SAP Solutions Lab, where he oversaw the development and worldwide rollout of ReadSoft’s SAP solutions.  

Nelk joined ReadSoft in 2006 upon the acquisition of Ebydos AG, a company he founded and where he was responsible for Invoice Cockpit and Process Director, the most widely used Accounts Payable and Financial Process Automation solutions for SAP. Prior to the founding of Ebydos, Nelk was employed by SAP AG.  Nelk holds an M.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Aachen.

Carsten Nelk, Chief Technology Officer


carsten nelk head shotAppointed in May 2015 to the position of CTO, Nelk has held executive positions at various global enterprise software leaders. Nelk is responsible for the company’s global product strategy and future roadmap, managing all TIS' product management, strategy and R&D teams. 

Before joining TIS, Nelk was responsible for innovation in Financial Process Automation at ReadSoft AB, where he introduced new functional process enhancements and mobile and cloud technologies.  Prior to that position, for six years Nelk served as CEO of the ReadSoft SAP Solutions Lab, where he oversaw the development and worldwide rollout of ReadSoft’s SAP solutions.

Andrew Pery, Chief Marketing Officer

Andrew Pery, a results-oriented marketing executive with over 25 years of experience in the high technology sector, joined TIS in August 2015 as CMO.  Mr. Pery brings to TIS vast industry experience managing global marketing teams as Chief Marketing Officer for Hummingbird (now Open Text) and Kofax (now Lexmark), with a focus on document process automation and enterprise content management solutions.   Most recently Mr. Pery held the role of CMO at ReadSoft (now Lexmark), where he led a global marketing initiative to drive continuous improvements to demand generation activities with increased emphasis on digital content and social media marketing investments that have resulted in increased marketing program effectiveness and efficiency.  

Mr. Pery holds a Masters of Law degree with Distinction from Northwestern University, Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in History and Political Science from Loyola, Montreal.   Mr. Pery holds the designation of Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) as well of Certified Information Professional (CIP/AIIM).

Alex Toh, Managing Director for Asia Pacific & Japan

alex toh webAlex Toh is the Managing Director for Asia Pacific & Japan for Top Image Systems (TIS), a leader in Enterprise Document Imaging. With more than a decade of experience in Intelligent Document Capture, Toh manages the P&L and operations for TIS APACJ, whose clientele includes global banks, financial institutions, governments and multi-national companies. His role includes working with executives in these sectors to execute strategic initiatives around business transformations and automation of inbound documents into their organization.

Prior to TIS, Toh founded Asiasoft Global, a document management ISV with offices around Asia, which was acquired by TIS in 2007. A graduate from National University Of Singapore, School Of Computing, Toh has  also served as President of Mobile Alliance Singapore and was appointed to the Executive Council of Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SITF).

Barry Richards, Managing Director EMEA

barry richards webBarry Richards has been with TIS since 2007. Prior to his current position, he served as the Managing Director of TIS UK from August 2009, having previously held posts of Senior Business Development Manager and UK Sales Manager. Since joining TIS he has been successful in establishing new business partnerships and has won major projects in Central Government, Insurance and Retail sectors. Richards brings a great wealth of knowledge as he has worked in the data capture and document management industry since 1989. His experience includes the creation of a partner distribution channel for OCR products as well as the implementation of many in-house and outsourced document and process management solutions throughout the UK and Ireland.

Prior to joining the document management industry, he held posts in the MOD and served as an IBM shift leader and systems analyst.

Egbert Fischer, General Manager, Central Europe

Egbert Fischer joined TIS in 2007, where he served as a Sales Director for EMEA responsible for the German speaking countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  In 2013 he was appointed General Manager for Central Europe.  Fischer came to TIS from ReadSoft, where he was Head of Sales for the German speaking countries.  Prior to that position he served as Director of Sales & Business Development DACH at Saperion, and before that held the position of Managing Director at EASY SOFTWARE. Fischer received a Diplom-Ingenieur (Certified Engineer) degree in Cybernetics from TH Leipzig, Germany,

Reut Kon-Loya, Vice President, Global Human Resources

Prior to joining TIS in 2015, Kon-Loya held numerous positions during her eight year tenure at KPMG Israel, including HR Manager for the Advisory Branch, Head of Compensation, Benefit and Labor Relations and Head of Global Mobility.  Kon-Loya was a Lieutenant in the Israel Defense Forces's HR Branch, where she held a leading role in the creation, assimilation and implementation of new strategies for screening IDF candidates.  Kon-Loya holds a B.A. in Political Sciences and Communications and an M.A. in Labor Studies from Tel Aviv University.

Robert Fresneda, President, TIS Americas

bob-fresnedaBob Fresneda was appointed President, TIS Americas in June 2015 to substantially expand U.S. business operations and participate in the Global Executive Management team.   Prior to joining TIS, Fresneda served as SVP, Americas & Asia Pacific for ReadSoft AB, where he drove growth in revenues to US million. After the acquisition of ReadSoft by Lexmark in 2014, Fresneda took responsibility for Worldwide Channel Sales.  

In his prior role as President of a large global data capture vendor, Fresneda demonstrated his proven management and leadership skills, starting in 2001 by building up the North American sales and delivery teams, expanding U.S. brand presence and dramatically growing U.S. market share. Under his leadership, ReadSoft North America was the fastest growing subsidiary, eventually becoming the largest subsidiary of the global enterprise, leading in total revenues and profits, number of personnel, and profit growth. Fresneda was then asked to help South America and Asia Pacific replicate the success achieved in North America.

Having built his career in the automated data capture software industry, Mr. Fresneda is a recognized and respected speaker at conferences and industry events and has been widely quoted in business publications. He holds degrees in Marketing, Accounting and Business Administration from the Southeastern Louisiana University.

Asi Karfiol

asi karfiol webAsi Karfiol was elected to serve as an external director of TIS for the second time in November 2010 . Mr. Karfiol has been active in the field of venture capital and investment banking for more than 15 years in which he incorporates his financial education and expertise together with his technological and marketing education and expertise. 
Mr. Karfiol is a  Partner and an Executive Director in Mooreland Partners, a global technology focused investment banking firm based in Greenwich Connecticut, with offices in New York, the Silicon Valley and London. Prior to that, Mr. Karfiol served as General Partner at Hyperion Israel Venture Partners for seven years. From 1995 through 2001, Mr. Karfiol served as Vice President at Ascend Venture Capital, an Israeli venture capital fund and at ITI – Integrated Technologies of Israel, an American-Israeli investment company. Prior to that, Mr. Karfiol served as Marketing Manager for the Keter Plastic Group and as General Manager of a strategic international marketing consulting firm for leading Israeli corporations. 
Mr. Karfiol holds a B.Sc. (summa cum laude) in Electrical Engineering and an MBA (magna cum laude) from Tel Aviv University.

Donald Dixon

Don Dixon is a Managing Director of Trident Capital and co-founded the firm in 1993. At Trident, he focuses on investments in IT Security, Business Services, Financial Payments, and Enterprise Software. He brings his expertise, experience and network to each of his portfolio companies and has helped many to become industry leaders, including Qualys, Merchant e-Solutions, Bytemobile and CSG Systems.

Currently, in addition to TIS, Don serves as a director of 2Checkout, AccountNow, Advanced Payment Solutions, Amprius, Infotrieve, Neohapsis, Odyssey Logistics, Qualys (QLYS), RoyaltyShare, SivaPower, Tiandi Energy, Top Image Systems and XRS Corporation (XRSC). He is also on the investment committee of Mustang Ventures, an affiliated China fund of Trident Capital Fund VI. Recently, AlwaysOn recognized Don’s investment success on its “Venture Capital 100” list. Don’s past directorships include Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), Anasazi Inc. (acquired by Pegasus Solutions), Bank of America Merchant Services (BPI), BlueStar Solutions (acquired by ACS), ByteMobile (acquired by Citrix), CSG Systems (CSGS), eGistics (acquired by Top Image Systems), Epicor Software Corporation (EPIC), Epoch Partners (acquired by Goldman Sachs), Evolving Systems (EVOL), InfoUSA (IUSA), Merchant e-Solutions (acquired by Cielo), Pegasus Systems (PEGS), Signio (acquired by Verisign), Sygate Technologies (acquired by Symantec) and Unison Software (acquired by IBM).

In addition to his board work for Trident, Don is Co-Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Princeton University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Harvard Kennedy School Center for Public Leadership. From 1988 to 1993, Don was Co-President of Partech International, a private equity fund associated with Banque Paribas. Prior to Partech, he was a Managing Director of Alex. Brown & Sons. Earlier in his career, Don was a Vice President of Morgan Stanley & Co. and a Senior Account Officer at Citibank, N.A.

Raised in New Jersey, Don earned his B.S.E. from Princeton University and his M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business. Outside of Trident, he enjoys skiing, golf, traveling with his family and supporting the United States Marine Corps.

Ido Schechter

ido schechter webDr. Schechter has been with the company since 1996 and served as the Company's CEO from January 2002 through 2013. Prior to that, Dr. Ido Schechter served as the Company's Vice President of Sales and Marketing from August 1996. From January 1995 until August 1996, Dr. Schechter served as General Manager of Super Image, an affiliate of the Company; which operates a form processing service bureau. From August 1993 to December 1994, Dr. Schechter oversaw the start-up of automatic form processing services at Israel Credit Cards, Ltd. From 1991 to 1993, Dr. Schechter was a research scientist at the Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Canada.

Dr. Schechter is the recipient of eight Honors and Scholarships, has published or presented more than twenty-five articles and is a Captain in the Israeli Air Force. Dr. Schechter received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Plant Physiology from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada and his B.Sc. from the Hebrew University in Israel.

Osnat Segev-Harel

osnat segev harel webOsnat Segev-Harel is serving as a director since 2012. Since 2009, Mrs. Segev-Harel serves as the chief marketing officer in Sapiens International (NASDAQ: SPNS), where she leads corporate marketing and development in the global financial services markets. During her tenure, she took an active role in the 3 M&As that Sapiens has completed druning 2010-2011, and led the go to market strategy and corporate rebranding efforts. Prior to that, as of 2005 Mrs. Segev-Harel led the sales strategy & planning at Actimize Inc., the leader of financial sector risk and compliance software solutions, based in New York. Before Actimize, Mrs. Segev-Harel has spent ten years at IBM, holding roles of business development, VC Relations, Sales and Marketing, mainly focused on the financial services sector. Earlier she spent six years at Digital Equipment. Mrs. Segev-harel holds a BSc from the University of New York and an MBA cum laude from Derby University.

Alayne Pregeant, Senior Director, Global Marketing

alayne pregeant-headshot web2Alayne Pregeant joined TIS in September 2013 to lead Global Marketing in alignment with TIS’ growth strategy for the North American market. Based in the United States, Pregeant brings over 11 years' industry experience in developing global marketing strategies and sales enablement campaigns that aim to significantly drive TIS’ revenue growth.Pregeant most recently served as Global Campaign Strategist for document process automation provider ReadSoft. Prior to her international coverage, Pregeant focused on marketing strategy for ReadSoft North America, which grew to the largest subsidiary of the organization. With a BA in Mass Communication and MBA in Marketing, Pregeant leads the global marketing and sales development teams to strengthen TIS' global market position of technological innovation while driving revenue through strategic marketing initiatives.

Amer Khan, VP, Cloud Solutions

amer khan headshotAmer Khan serves as TIS' VP Cloud Solutions.  Mr. Khan was formerly the Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Product Management for eGistics and has over 20 years’ experience in information technology consulting and development for major service providers.  Khan joined eGistics in 2006 as Vice President of Engineering.

Prior to eGistics, Khan held management positions with leading technology consulting companies including BearingPoint and Perot Systems (now part of Dell).  At BearingPoint, Khan worked with leading healthcare companies on market strategies and technology direction, and was responsible for designing and implementing customer-oriented business and technical architectures.  At Perot Systems, Khan served as a Senior Manager where he was responsible for the healthcare payer product development group.

Brian Winters, VP of IT, Security and Operations

Brian Winters serves as VP of IT, Security & Operations.  Mr. Winters was formerly eGistics' Chief Information Officer and has over 15 years of experience in technology management and solutions engineering. Prior to joining eGistics, Mr. Winters served as CIO for Richmont Holdings, a private equity firm with holdings in the imaging, banking and manufacturing industries focused on turnarounds and startups. He has also held COO positions at both Richmont and Bondstreet Limited and has served as Vice President of IT for Nukote International, a leading manufacturer in the imaging industry. Prior to that, Brian owned and operated a successful regional ISP and IT Professional Services company which was acquired in 2004.  Brian received his MIS degree from the State University of New York and holds numerous technical and project management certifications.

Isaac Rome, VP Mobile Solutions

isaac rome webAs VP of Mobile Solutions, Isaac Rome leads the business development, marketing, sales, product development and all related activities for the company’s Mobile and Banking solutions.   Rome has been with TIS since 1999 and has advanced within the company, serving in his first position as a Presales Engineer and then as a Strategic Project Manager.  He was later promoted to serve in various management positions while carrying out prolonged tours of duty in Boston, London, and Singapore, where he managed the Professional Services  operations for the  UK, the Americas and for APAC.  He also acted as Regional Sales Director for Africa, Benelux and Eastern Europe. Rome holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Computer Technology and an MBA with specialization in Finance from Herzliya Interdisciplinary College.

Ricardo Campelo Almeida, General Manager, Latin America

Ricardo Campelo joined TIS in 2004 as Sales Director for the America’s Division. Since then Campelo has been managing marketing programs, sales, strategic alliances and distribution channels in the region, achieving outstanding results, contributing to TIS’ growth and success.  Campelo brings to TIS solid international business experience of over 15 years selling Document Management and ECM solutions in Latin American and US along with a global business perspective, experience in major turnaround efforts and strong knowledge, view and understanding of current trends in IT.  Prior to joining TIS,Campelo served for 7 years as Marketing & Sales Director at Unisys Corporation, Latin America and Caribbean Division, where he was responsible for direct selling, managing and expanding alliances and channels with 3rd parties and local distributors in the region. Campelo holds a B. Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from the Rio de Janeiro University and an International Business MBA  (TBC) from Lynn University, Boca Raton – FL.

Shingo Kado, General Manager, Japan

shingo kado  webShingo Kado was promoted to be General Manager of TIS Japan on June 30, 2012. Kado has a long history with TIS, since when he was working at Toyo Ink, TIS’s distributor in Japan, as an engineer of TIS product since 1992.  Kado continued working after the establishment of TIS Japan in 2004 when TIS acquired the eFLOW division of Toyo Ink, and became director of the engineering department in 2006. In the following years, Kado developed both his engineering knowledge and business development skills.

Yuval Hinski, VP, R&D

Yuval Hinski has been a part of the TIS R&D operations since 2004, when he joined as a software engineer.  Following responsibilities as Director of R&D and VP, R&D, Hinski was appointed Director of Global Solutions in 2013.  Before TIS, Hinski served on the R&D teams of well-known high-tech companies such as Gilat Satellite Networks and Verint Systems.   He has strong expertise in Agile Methodologies, Scrum, WCF, .NET and promotes test-driven development.  Hinski holds a B.Sc. in Computer Sciences from the Open University of Israel.
